At last count, there are more than 350 places to eat at Disney World… 3 5 0!  There is something for everyone and every budget.  Now, with all of this wide variety there is also some effort to figure out where to head for that next lunch or dinner.  It is important to know the difference in each so you can ensure the best experience with managing your food allergies.

Before you call and make reservations, below is a quick primer on the different type of dining locations you can choose from.

Carts and Kiosks
Located all over the parks, they usually offer the standard snack and drink fare, including:
– Bottled soft drinks and water
– Lemonade
– Pretzels
– Ice cream and frozen fruit bars
– Popcorn

Quick Service
Ranges from fast-food style burgers and fries to rotisserie chicken and barbeque ribs.  The common theme is that you will wait in a line, place your order, and carry your tray to a table of your choosing.

Table Service – Off Menu
The first (most common) style of table service restaurant is what we call “off-menu”.  These are traditional host/hostess sit-down services with waiters/waitresses.  At Disney, these are the highest-end of their options and come in a variety of themes:
– Steakhouses
– Italian
– Mexican
– Japanese
– African

Table Service – Buffet
At some table-service restaurants they offer buffet-style menu selections.  Like the “off-menu” style locations, these are host/hostess sit-down services with waiters/waitresses, but you serve yourself from the common buffet line, with the exception of your drinks.  There are the same varieties of themes as the “off-menu” versions.
